Olivier Giroud says he doesn’t regret choosing to stay at Arsenal, despite serious interest from Everton.
The midfielder was the subject of interest from Everton all summer but he eventually chose to stay at the Emirates to fight for a spot in Wenger’s starting xi.
When asked about his decision to stay at Arsenal earlier, the striker claimed it was his heart and soul which told him to stay at Arsenal. He has now further opened up on his decision, claiming he doesn’t regret choosing to stay here over moving to Everton.
“I was very close to signing for another English club, Everton, but I made the best choice I think. (I’m) content to have remained, well in his head and in his sneakers,” reports Daily Cannon.
These comments come days after France boss Didier Deschamp warned that the striker risk the chance of losing his first team spot in the national team if he isn’t playing regularly for his club.
Giroud is currently playing second fiddle to club record signing Alexandre Lacazette. The French man has shown he still has a key role to play at Arsenal and it’s a good thing he decided to stay.
I am sure he’ll play more as the season progresses, Lacazette can’t play all the games, Welbeck can do a good job upfront but his injury record is an issue, so Giroud will get enough game time to keep him happy.
