Everton are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Beskitas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup.
Reports in Turkey have continuously linked Arsenal with a move for Ozyakup who has been impressive for Besiktas in recent years.
The midfielder came through Arsenal academy, but failed to make a league appearance before he was shipped to Turkey. Arsenal are believed to have been impressed by the midfielder’s development and are considering resigning him, but we could now face competition from Everton.
According to Turkish based newspaper Fotospor via the Mirror, Everton are preparing a £13m January bid for Ozyakup.
The Toffees interest is set to complicate things a little for Arsenal who are not prepared to pay that much for the midfielder. However, it shouldn’t take too much to resolve as Besiktas may have to consider our lesser bid if it is anything close to what Everton are ready to offer.
Arsenal are entitled to 30% of Ozyakup’s future transfer fee meaning we stand to make £3.9m if they decide to sell to Everton. Doing business with us could then favor the Turkish side more.
Arsenal’s consistent links with several midfielder indicates that Wenger is interested in strengthening that area of the pitch, Ozyakup would be a decent option if we manage to get him.
