Arsenal are still keeping tabs on Monaco’s Thomas Lemar despite the failed attempt to sign him in the summer.
Lemar was Arsenal’s top target in the summer transfer window but Wenger couldn’t secure his signature before the window closed.
The Frenchman was identified as a key target as Early as March but Monaco’s handling of negotiations was the main reason we couldn’t sign him.
We had a couple of bids rejected earlier in the transfer window, only for the French club to change their mind and became receptive to offers in the dying hours of the window. We came up with a huge £90m bid but the player opted not to move because it was already too late to push through such huge deal.
Despite the failed attempts to sign Lemar in the summer, reports are claiming Arsenal remain interested in the winger.
The Sun via the Daily Cannon claim Arsenal scouts were seen watching the winger recently.
Arsenal are apparently still be interested in the Frenchman as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who could leave at the end of the season.
Although there are doubts whether Arsenal can still sign him, Robert Pires for example, recently saying the Gunners have lost the chance to sign Lemar.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal succeed in signing him next summer. A January move is highly unlikely because such huge moves are always difficult to complete in the winter.
