Arsenal are on the verge of signing Caglar Soyuncu, according to Altinordu president Seyit Mehmet Ozkan.
Soyuncu, who has “dreams of playing for Manchester United”, has made 47 appearances for Freiburg since his move from Altinordu back in 2016 but the 21-year-old defender is being heavily linked with the Gunners ahead of the summer transfer window.
It was reported in March that Arsenal had held talks over signing Turkey international and Ozkan appears to have confirmed that advanced discussions have taken place.
Speaking at the International Football Economic Forum, Ozkan claimed: ‘Caglar Soyuncu is set to join Arsenal.
‘Arsenal demanded his youth information from us. We’ll earn from him if he joins Arsenal. Bayern Munich wants him too, but he’s on the way to the Premier League.’
It’s understood Arsenal’s head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, is the man behind the club’s interest.
Freiburg are demanding a fee of around £30million for Soyuncu which could put off the likes of Arsenal and Bayern this summer.
Soyuncu admitted last year that he dreams of working under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.
‘I admire Jose Mourinho, not just his football but his philosophy,’ he said. ‘I would like to work with him in the future.’
