Sam Johnstone has admitted he could leave Manchester United on a permanent basis as the summer transfer window approaches.
Johnstone is currently with Aston Villa, who are looking to secure a return to the Premier League from the Championship.
And the 25-year-old has suggested he could call time on his United career with his hopes of making a breakthrough at Old Trafford slim.
“If you leave, then the one downside is that you haven’t done that despite being there since you were 10,” Johnstone told The Guardian.
“I’d have liked to have done it. But you’ve got the world’s best goalkeeper, David De Gea, at the club and you can’t wait around forever.
“You realise you might have to take the example of someone like Michael Keane, who went to Burnley and has gone from strength to strength.”
