Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Brazilian winger Malcom, after reportedly setting up a meeting with his club Bordeaux to discuss a transfer, according to the Daily Cannon.
The young attacker has been attracting a lot of interest with his performances for Bordeaux this season, but reports claim the Gunners have gone a step ahead and have a meeting arranged to try and negotiate a move.
Malcom is valued around £50 million, and has scored seven times and provided five assists in 21 appearances at this stage of an impressive season.
Arsenal are looking to replace outgoing duo Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, and the trio of Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck have not proven to be good enough this season. With Walcott likely to move this January, Arsenal are now in serious need of a decent attacking addition.
Though unproven at the very top level, putting Malcom’s performance this season into perspective, he has contributed to 12 goals so far this season for 15th placed Bordeaux, the exact same numbers as Alexis Sanchez who he might be replacing at Arsenal, he seems to be worth a gamble on current evidence.
It remains to be seen if Wenger will risk that much money on this gamble. Do you think he should? Drop your comments below.
