Arsenal look set for their busiest winter transfer window ever, they have already signed Konstantis Mavropanos, Henrikh Mhkitaryan, are close to signing Aubameyang, and are now looking to sign Jonny Evans before the end of the transfer window, according to the Daily star.
Arsene Wenger has insisted the club will carry on spending in the transfer window after they upped their bid for Aubameyang.
Wenger said: “It depends on the opportunities we have. We can buy players. We are busy on all fronts, so overall I think we are open-minded. Every opportunity we have to strengthen our squad, we’ll take.
“If people want to buy some of our players, we have [examined that] – players who have less chances to play, we have done it, who deserve to play because they are great players, who have left us.
“After that, we’ll see at the end. There’s still a lot that will happen as usual on the transfer market.”
The Mirror claim Jonny Evans is top of Wenger’s list as he looks to take advantage of Man City’s change of interest and secure his signature.
City have tracked the defender for a while but have turned their attention to a much younger Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.
West Brom had initially been reluctant to sell but are now willing to sell the £20 million rated center back, as they know they can lose him for just £3 million if they get relegated.
Arsenal are also tracking Abdou Diallo as they look to strengthen their defensive line.
