[4-2-3-1] Lingard, Pogba, Lukaku and Rashford start in Man Utd vs Southampton Best XI

Chris Smalling (groin) remains a major doubt for the home fixture against Southampton, while Matteo Darmian (knock) and Anthony Martial (knee) will be assessed after sitting out the 2-2 draw with Burnley.

Victor Lindelof was an unused substitute on Boxing Day and will be considered for a recall either at right-back or in central defence.

Antonio Valencia remains a major doubt due to a hamstring injury while Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo will likely be considered for a rest with a trip to Everton to follow two days later.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic look poised to retain their starts at the base of midfield in the 4-2-3-1 formation, with Ander Herrera the main alternative.
