Jurgen Klopp revealed that Joel Matip returned to training on Tuesday following a muscle problem but the trip to Arsenal may come too soon for the centre-back.

If the defender isn’t risked, Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren could form the centre-back partnership once again.

Joe Gomez and Andrew Robertson are expected to retain their starts in the full-back positions, with James Milner an alternative to Robertson at left-back.

Philippe Coutinho played as part of the front three in the 4-0 win at Bournemouth but he may join Jordan Henderson and either Emre Can or Georginio Wijnaldum in central midfield.

Coutinho moving into midfield would allow Sadio Mane to return in attack alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings provide the back-up options, with Daniel Sturridge struggling to overcome illness.

Alberto Moreno remains sidelined and is out for a few weeks, while Nathaniel Clyne is a long-term absentee.
