Several reports claim Arsenal are closing in on a move for Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
The Swiss international could become Arsenal’s third signing of the summer and also Unai Emery’s second-shot stopper having already signed Bernd Leno from Bayern Leverkusen.
It is believed Roma are in advance position in signing Petr Cech with previous report confirming Alisson Becker’s move to Liverpool the Sere A club have reportedly identified the Arsenal shot-stopper as his replacement.
The 29-year-old was one of Switzerland’s stand-out stars of the World Cup and has featured prominently for his Bundesliga side, Borussia Monchengladbach.
According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Emery is keen to bring Sommer to north London to keep Leno on his toes, fighting for his spot.
Leno hasn’t got his career with the Gunners off to a flying start, after a mistake in a preseason fixture against London rivals Brentford cost the Premier League side the game.
Emery may have to move quickly and fend off Barcelona who are also considering making a move for Sommer, as a replacement for Jasper Cillessen.
