Arsenal could make a move for AC Milan forward Andre Silva after new Milan boss Genero Gattuso talked up the sale of the young striker.

The Portuguese striker was heavily linked with Arsenal before he joined Milan for £33m in the summer but has so far failed to live up to expectations.

He’s yet to score a goal for Milan in the Serie A and the club is gradually running out of patience with him.

Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been linked with Silva and it is being claimed the club’s search for Alexis Sanchez’s replacement could see Wenger sign the Portuguese international if the opportunity arises.

It appears the opportunity is here now after Gattuso hinted at selling the striker.

“He is a player with great qualities and is also very young, Daily Cannon reports the new Milan boss said.

I think he has a good rating in the transfer market.

“He is a good striker and if you put him on the market, you will quickly find a buyer. He can be sold easily, especially since I have not seen him do a one-two in a long time.”

Although Silva has been touted as a replacement for Sanchez, he is more of a centre forward, which makes it unlikely that Arsenal will be making a move for him as a direct replacement for Sanchez.

If Silva is to leave the San Siro, he will be looking to join a club where he can play regularly considering he is currently at a stage where first team football is very crucial for him developing into a top class forward.

At the Emirates currently, the presence of summer signing Alexander Lacazette could stand between him and regular first team football.
