Liverpool finally completed the long-awaited transfer of Adam Lallana for £25 million. The player recently underwent a medical and it was expected that he would officially become a Liverpool player in the next few hours. Liverpool have confirmed that the player has signed a long-term deal and that he would be wearing the number 20 shirt. Lallana has become one of the bright players in the Premier League. He said:
“I’m so excited for the next chapter of my career, coming to a special club like Liverpool. I’m quite humbled and I just can’t wait to get started.”
He was a major reason in Southampton finishing in the top half of the table. His nine goals and several other assists helped him to get into the PFA Team of the Year along with several stars like Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. Lallana, who has made more than 250 appearances for Southampton, says that he has joined Liverpool in order to win trophies. Lallana is the second signing for the club after they had already brought in Rickie Lambert for £4 million.
After announcing the signing, Brendan Rodgers stated that Lallana is a player of immense ability, while his motivation and desire to do well in the game will hold them in good stead.
Apart from Lallana, Liverpool are also interested in a defender and another midfielder. A striker signing is also on the cards should they sell Luis Suarez at some stage. Barcelona are thought to be heavily interested in the Uruguay striker, who may have finally decided against continuing in England.
It is rumoured that Barcelona are willing to offer Alexis Sanchez in exchange.
