Arsenal are understood to be monitoring RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi. The former Liverpool keeper has been outstanding for the side again this season.

ESPN via Tribal Football reports that both Arsenal and rivals Chelsea sent scouts to watch the Hungarian international in action during his side’s 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich on last Saturday.

The report goes on to state that Arsene Wenger is already looking at replacements for Petr Cech while Chelsea see him as a potential successor for Thibaut Courtois in the event he returns to Madrid, this time with World Champions, Real, at the end of the season.

Recently addressing the media about the reports linking Gulacsi with a move away from RBL, Tribal Football also reports the shot stopper’s agent James Lippett had this to say to The Sun last week, “We stay very calm about speculation, it’s normal when players are playing well, other teams will be interested in them.

“Peter is playing very well and has established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Bundesliga.

“He’s a fantastic keeper with a top class mentality, Leipzig showed a lot of faith in Peter to make him part of their ambitious project.

“And so far it has been a successful relationship for both the player and the club.”

Wenger’s interest in the shot stopper comes with no surprise as to future of the goalkeeping department at the Emirates seems quite uncertain at the moment.

Current custodian of the gloves, Petr Cech is already on the wrong side of 35, Wojciech Szczesny who would have been an able replacement having matured during his loan spells at Roma was sold to Juventus last summer while David Ospina is likely to be sold in the next transfer window as he continues to agitate for a move away from the Emirates in search of more regular football.
