Kalidou Koulibaly is unlikely to move to Arsenal or Chelsea should the Gunners and the Blues miss out on Champions League football, according to the defender’s agent.
Manchester United could be all clear to complete a deal for the impressive defender without much competition from fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea.
Bruno Satin revealed Chelsea and Arsenal are one of Koulibaly’s suitors, but the Blues now need to win their final three Premier League games to secure Champions League football.
Chelsea also need to hope Tottenham or Liverpool drop points in their final matches and Koulibaly seems to have his heart set on competing in Europe’s elite competition if he leaves Napoli this summer.
‘Transfers? There’s always a need to refresh things at a club, and that implies a change of players or staff, but I have no information about Napoli, although they certainly need to improve,’ he told Radio Crc.
‘Koulibaly, [Napoli coach Maurizio] Sarri and [Elseid] Hysaj to Chelsea? I don’t know anything, neither do I know if Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League or not. ‘It’s important to understand how the season will end because important players want to play the Champions League.
‘Is Koulibaly worth €100m? The market and [Napoli chairman Aurelio] De Laurentiis will decide because Kalidou has no release clause.
‘The President may also decide to keep him because he considers him important for the team. ‘I don’t know if these three games will be his last for Napoli because there have been offers every year, but Koulibaly has always ended up staying, so he won’t necessarily leave.
‘It’s difficult to make predictions now, plus there’s also a need to understand what Sarri will do.’ Chelsea look set for another shake-up this summer as Antonio Conte is on the verge of being dismissed after a disappointing season. Koulibaly has been a target of Chelsea’s for the last year and could cost upwards of £88million. Napoli value their defender at the €100m mark as the centre-back is under contract until 2021 and that deal does not include a release clause.
