Arsenal are understood to be monitoring CSKA Moscow star Aleksandr Golovin.
Wenger who is understood to want to reinvigorate his midfield ahead of next season is understood to be keen on the Russian international according to Russian agent Sandor Varga who has revealed that the French gaffer asked him to keep tabs on the youngster.
The 21-year-old midfielder is very highly rated in Russia and has been heavily scouted by Wenger this season.
His impressive performances have however attracted a lot more than just the Gunners’ interest in his services with Spanish giants Barcelona now also understood to be following his development.
The Spanish side watched him in action against Basel in the Champions League this week.
Daily Star reports Varga spoke to Moscow-based news outlet Sport Express and said Wenger, just like Barcelona, is a fan of the midfielder.
When asked if a move to the Nou Camp could be on the cards following Barca’s scouting trip, he said: “Why not? I see great potential in him.
“This summer, I watched Alexander a lot at the request of Arsene Wenger.
“Once such clubs follow the player, it means there’s something there.
“Their scouting services don’t just watch them for fun.”
When asked what team Golovin would be most suited to, Varga suggested a switch to north London would be ideal.
“It all depends on the manager,” he added.
“I have full faith in Wenger. If Aleksandr gets to play under him, he’ll be very lucky.”
