Reports linking Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema with a move to the Emirates are believed to be incorrect, with the player’s representative stating that the French forward is happy with life at the Bernabeu.
Arsene Wenger’s hopes of signing his long term target can now be said to be as good as dead considering the player also recently singed a contract extension with the Spanish heavyweights to remain in Madrid till 2021.
Wenger’s quest to land a World Class forward over the years saw Benzema annually linked with a move to the Emirates, but the French international was never up for sale by Los Blancos. The gaffer eventually signed Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon last summer but links of Benzema making a move to North London persisted.
The agent of 29-year-old is understood to have denied speculation about his client possibly leaving the La Liga champions.
Daily Cannon have now reported that Benzema’s agent Bryan Swanson took to Twitter to reveal that his client is happy at Real.
“Karim Benzema to Arsenal? His rep tells me: “Benzema is very happy at Real Madrid… absolutely no intention of leaving club”
Following the sale of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea in the window last summer, Benzema is currently the only senior striker in Zidane’s squad. The gaffer was in any case never going to sanction the departure of his compatriot without securing the services of a capable replacement first.
Since signing for Real from Lyon for £30million back in 2009, Benzema has gone on to score 183 goals providing a further 104 assists in 372 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos.
