Alexis Sanchez potential destination is taking a new turn with reports that PSG are lining up a £25million bid for him in January, despite Manchester City’s keen interest.
This surely would have made Wenger’s decision tougher, the winger seem set on rejecting any extension on his contract that expires in the summer, and Man City looked like his next destination.
His representatives were however reported to have met with PSG officials in Paris and keen on a quick deal with £25million the price in mind according to Daily Express.
Sanchez almost joined Man City on deadline day during the summer but Arsenal’s failure to sign a replacement ensured he remained at the Emirates.
His performances ever since has been underwhelming, there has been glimpses of the qualities he possesses, but he has been wasteful in possession, losing the ball more times than any other Arsenal player this season and notably in big games. he has just 4 goals so far as against 12 at this stage last season.
Wenger has been reluctant to sanction any January sales, but if a big offer comes in for Alexis, he should consider it, with reports of clashes with teammates increasing.
The Chilean’s qualities is no doubt going to be valuable to the Gunners, but without the motivation to play for the team, he will prove detrimental going forward. And so cashing in on him early and focusing on building the team around the rest of the attack would be a better option.
