French side Olympic Marseille are believed to retain an interest in Arsenal forward Lucas Perez.
Following a poor debut campaign in North London last season, the striker who was deemed surplus to requirements by Wenger was understood to be a target for the French side in last summer’s transfer window.
Perez’ preference however was to return to Spain and he then sealed a temporary switch to former side Deportivo on deadline day.
Recent reports emanating from France are however revealing that the 29-year-old remains on the wishlist of Marseille who are interested in taking him off the Gunners permanently.
According to Le10sport via Daily Cannon, Marseille are keen on signing him permanently next summer as the Ligue 1 club’s Director of Football, Andoni Zubizarretta, is allegedly a fan of the Spaniard.
Following a confidence denting campaign last year, Lucas is understandably yet to really get out of second gear at Deportivo this season scoring just once in five La Liga matches so far.
Should Marseille make an offer that meets the Gunners valuation of striker, Wenger will be delighted to quickly get the deal over the line.
The Spanish striker made a paltry 11 appearances for the Gunners all of last season, but never completed the full 90 minutes in a single league game, scoring just one goal for his troubles.
