Everton are reportedly interested in signing Theo Walcott.

Earlier in the week, reports claimed Wenger has told Walcott he can find a new club in January but the boss has since come out to deny those reports.

However, the manager admitted that the club’s interest will be considered first when making any decision.

Whether this means selling the winger if a huge offer comes in or keeping him to strengthen the team’s depth, we do not know.

But Football.London says Everton have been boosted by the boss’ comments.

Walcott has 18 months left in his contract and a contract extension isn’t forthcoming.

The club recently opened negotiations with Aaron Ramsey to extend his contract but such gesture hasn’t been shown to Walcott.

Walcott is yet to start a Premier League game this season, which suggests he isn’t integral to Wenger’s plans.

The boss recently admitted that Walcott is unhappy at Arsenal and may have to consider the player’s interests, but insists Arsenal will be his priority.

When asked if Walcott was unhappy with his situation, Wenger said:

“Of course he (Walcott) is frustrated but he is focused.”

“He doesn’t give up at all and is more determined than ever.

“I have to consider the interest in the player, but dominant of that will be the interest of the club. If you can combine the two then even better, but first it’s what is important to the club.”

The Arsenal boss added: “I want to keep the squad because we qualify now for the Europa league. We do not want to reduce the squad.

“We have the League Cup still, we have the FA Cup to come, the Premier League where we have a big fight to be in the top four. We don’t want to become weaker.”

When asked whether Walcott will be offered a new deal, the manager said said: “That’s difficult for me to answer. The player has to be happy to come to the table and and analyse his situation. I haven’t started yet.”

The boss’ comments does suggest he is open to the idea of selling Walcott but won’t want to do so at the middle of the season, so the team won’t be weakened.

Personally, I don’t see the winger leaving in January because he will be important in our Europa League challenge but should his situation not improve before the end of the season, then he’ll be out in the summer.
