Darren Bent has urged Theo Walcott to leave Arsenal if he wants to revitalize his career.
Walcott is yet to start a Premier League game for Arsenal this season and is being restricted to just cup games.
He’s been a regular at Arsenal’s Europa League games so far and played the full 90 minutes plus extra time in the last Carabao cup game against Norwich City but failed to make much impact.
Bent has now urged him to leave the Emirates if he wants to start playing regularly again.
“The freshness of a move somewhere else might be perfect for him,” Bent told Sky Sports’ The Debate Show .
“He’s been there for a long, long time now and I’m not quite sure how much more he can improve while he’s there.
“But you never know, sometimes you can go somewhere else with new surroundings and, all of a sudden, you can kick on again.
Maybe that’s what he needs.”
“I think so, for [his own] sake.
“I’m not sure where he can go now with Arsenal and he’s only playing in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.
“He’ll want to finish on a high in respect of what he’s doing, he’s given Arsenal great service in the time he’s been there and for me he should move on for himself.
Walcott is Arsenal’s longest serving player, having spent 11 years at Arsenal. He is supposed to be playing a more important role in the team but somehow has failed to fulfil the huge potential he showed when he was a teenager.
I do think a move away from the Emirates could just give Walcott the chance to savage the little left in his career.
