Antonio Conte has backed Chelsea’s decision to send Kurt Zouma out on loan.
The defender joined Stoke City in the summer until the end of the season and has gone on to make an impressive start to life at the Bet365 stadium.
Conte has now revealed he’s been impressed with Zouma’s performances at Stoke City.
The defender spent close to a year on the sidelines, after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Manchester United in February 2016 and Chelsea thought it was necessary for him to play regularly this term.
‘This season it’s very important to play because after a really bad injury, it’s not simple – he broke his leg in a bad way,’ said Conte,as quoted by the Metro.
‘He is playing very well, it’s a pleasure for me to see him play regularly in this way.
‘In this case in every decision I make the decision with the club together and it’s important to know this, but in this specific case I think the best way for him is to send him on loan and play regularly.
‘He renewed contract with Chelsea for many years, it showed we trust him, it was very important.’
Zouma was unable to feature against Chelsea when the Blues visited the Bet365 stadium on Saturday as the Premier League rules doesn’t allow a player to feature against his parent club.
The Blues smashed four past Stoke City, with Morata grabbing a hat-trick as Chelsea kept up the pace with the Manchester clubs in the title race.
