Former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has urged Antonio Conte to sign Bacary Sagna.
Sagna is currently without a club, after he was released by Manchester City at the end of last season. He was linked with a host of Premier League clubs in the summer, including Chelsea and West Ham.
The Blues were said to be considering a move for the defender before Zappacosta was brought in.
However, Chelsea still have the chance to sign him outside the transfer window because he is a free agent.
And Hislop thinks Conte should do just that. The pundit is of the opinion that Conte can get the best out of the former Arsenal man since he could turn Moses into one of Premier League’s best wingback.
“Quite clearly he was surplus to requirements at Manchester City,” he said on ESPN FC, as quoted by the Express.
“I’ll say this, ordinarily I would have said no. But I’m going to say yes.
“Antonio Conte turned Victor Moses into a Premier League-winning player.
“Now he hopped around and in my opinion probably showed less promise than Bacary Sagna.
“If Conte can find a system to suit Moses, there is no question in my mind that Conte can find a system to suit anybody.
“You and I still have a chance of making a career under Conte.”
I am sure Chelsea fans won’t buy Hislop’s idea even though we appear short of options at wingback. Instead of signing Sagna, it would make more sense if we find a way to include Baba Rahman in our squad list, after initially leaving him out.
Sagna won’t improve us in anyway, so I don’t really see the need to sign him.
