Arsenal are reportedly interested in Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger seem very interested in the Portuguese as he has been trying to sign him for quite sometime.
Pereira was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last January as well as last summer and it’s being claimed that Wenger is still keeping an eye on him.
However, we could face competition from Monaco and Paris Saint Germain both of whom are also keen on the midfielder.
According to Calciomercato via the Daily Cannon, the French duo will rival Arsenal for the midfielder’s services.
Arsenal’s interest in Pereira is a long standing one and club chief scout Luis Boa Morte has watched him on several occasions.
Pereira recently signed a new deal with Porto, which saw his release clause increase to £54m.
Knowing how difficult it is to negotiate with Porto, it is unlikely that they will sell for less than his release clause and that would be a stumbling block for Arsenal.
Free spenders PSG can effortlessly activate his release clause while Monaco will also have a lot to spend after the money they got from their summer sales.
Arsenal currently have adequate personnels in midfield and I don’t see Wenger spending big to bring another in.
It could be that the club is looking to upgrade that area of the pitch but I don’t think we would be targeting a player who would cost a huge fee.
