Arsenal’s pursuit of Thomas Lemar is set a take a huge blow with news that Liverpool are preparing a £90 million bid for the Frenchman in January.
The two clubs made attempts to sign him during the summer, with Arsenal coming closest to signing him, but Monaco declined at the last minute.
Liverpool got interested in him when it seemed Phillipe Coutinho would be joining Barcelona and halted the move for Lemar when they stopped Coutinho’s move to Spain, while Arsenal want him as a replacement for outgoing Alexis Sanchez.
Liverpool however has reignited their interest in the winger with Klopp who is a longtime admirer, keen on adding him to his squad in January.
Thomas Lemar on his part had been keen on joining Arsenal in the summer, but their lack of Champions League football made it difficult to convince him to move to the Emirates.
Liverpool can guarantee champions league football and will take advantage of that to lure him to Anfield, though they will have to make a bid of £90 million before Monaco even listens to them.
Lemar has netted just two goals this season, and sees his side in second position 9 points behind star-studded PSG at the top of the table.
