Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has reached out to his former teammate Olivier Giroud to wish him well for the future after the Frenchman completed his move to Chelsea on deadline day.
The two attackers were on the fringes at Arsenal this season, seeing game time hard to come by and featuring in the cup games and Europa league mostly, Walcott particularly didn’t get a single start in the league this season.
The two players left the club during the January transfer window, with Walcott leaving two weeks earlier unnoticed as the attention was on Alexis Sanchez looming departure at the time.
After Olivier Giroud completed his deadline day move Walcott tweeted:
Best of luck to a great team mate, top player & most of all a good friend @_OlivierGiroud_ 👏🏽🙌🏽
Walcott on his part has started his Everton career on a very excellent note, scoring two and laying an assist in his first two games. And Chelsea fans will be hoping Giroud has a similar impact when he starts playing.
Both players left to increase their World Cup chances, Walcott is doing well there, hopefully Giroud follows suit.
