Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has agreed to join Arsenal, and Arsenal just need to improve their bid in order to land him, according to the Mirror.
The Frenchman has been part of Real Madrid’s slump this season that has seen him register just two goals in the league this season, and the club now 19 points behind table toppers Barcelona.
Benzema has been tracked by Arsene Wenger for almost ten years, since his days at Lyon and despite his dip in form this season, the Gunners boss is said to still admire the 30-year-old.
There’s the feeling that the club want a new and more potent No.9 and Benzema’s time at the Spanish capital might just be coming to an end if that happens.
According to the reports on the Mirror, even though the striker has agreed terms with the Gunners, they are still well short of the valuation of Madrid for the striker as they expect the Arsenal to part with the same sum they paid for Alexander Lacazette in the summer.
Looking at the facts, it’s difficult to believe Arsene Wenger would be willing to sign a 30-year-old who is finding goals hard to come by for the same amount he signed an in form goal scorer four years his junior.
