Arsenal sent scouts to watch Benfica winger Andrija Zivkovic in a Portuguese cup game according to reports from the press.
Portuguese daily O Jogo believe Arsenal are very interested in the winger and might be making an offer in January. Though another local daily Correio da Manhã didn’t see Arsenal as potential destination when they reported that Zivkovic wanted to leave the club.
The 21-year-old has struggled to establish himself in the first team at Benfica since moving from Partizan Belgrade in 2016.
He has been linked to Arsenal for a while, with Arsenal needing a new winger in the events that they lose Alexis Sanchez in January. However, he doesn’t come across as the quality Arsenal fans would want replacing their star man.
Portuguese press frequently publishes lists of scouts who attend games and Arsenal scouts are frequently on the list. It might explain the numerous news linking Portuguese league players to Arsenal.
Given his inability to break into Benfica’s first team, he is unlikely to represent a valid replacement for Alexis.
