Arsenal are in the hunt for a goalkeeper and have identified Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as their main target to take Petr Cech’s position in the summer, according to Daily Cannon.
Man Utd are not willing to sell David de Gea, but are lining up a move for Oblak should in case he leave for Real Madrid in the summer.
Chelsea on the other hand are facing a huge battle to get their first choice goalie to sign a new contract as he looks for a move to Madrid to reunite with his kids. And so, have made Oblak a first choice target to replace the Belgian.
The declining form of first choice keeper Petr Cech and the uncertainty around the future of second choice goalkeeper David Ospina at the club means Arsenal now need a new number one keeper as they continue improving their squad.
According to reports, Jan Oblak is the main target as new head of football relations Raul Sanhelli has prioritized signing him in the summer after watching him closely during his time at Barcelona.
However, the Slovenian international has a release clause of £89 million and with Altletico unwilling to part ways with him, they could demand his full release clause before they let him go.
The figure is not impossible for Arsenal as they made a bid of the same amount for Thomas Lemar in the summer, but as the current world record fee for a keeper stands at £34.7 million which Man City paid for Ederson, it’s highly unlikely the Gunners will be willing to pay that high for a goalkeeper.
Whatever happens, the fact remains that Arsenal need to find a new goalkeeper in the summer.
Do you think Arsenal should sign Oblak at £89 million?
