Last month the Dutch striker Robin Van Persie announced that he did not want to renew his contract at the Emirates, meaning that Arsenal could lose the PFA Player of the Year for nothing next summer.
Now an interesting story comes to an end this morning claiming Arsenal captain come striker Robin Van Persie has agreed to stay at Arsenal for the upcoming season and is considering a new long-term contract despite well-publicised interest from Manchester United.
Van Persie may stay true to his club after all as news breaks that transfer negotiations have stalled between Arsenal and Manchester United following their failed bid of £25m.
There’s no news on van Persie, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: “Our fans want him to stay so you can understand they are excited. Anything I could say about Van Persie would be a lie because he’s our player and that’s it”.
He also added, Robin scored 30 goals last season and we want to keep our best players. He was player of the year in England. We want to keep him. I cannot tell you more at the moment because I don’t know more.
In other Arsenal news, Wenger is still pushing for Nuri Sahin on loan, however Real Madrid are sending out mixed signals in that they are happy to let their midfielder go but will reward his loyalty if he stays.
Aside, Former Belgian football player Vincent Kompany believes that , “RVP is a great player. He’s proved it so many times last season and any team he would play for he’d make it stronger”.
