BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce has revealed Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could make a sensational move to the Emirates in the New Year.

The pundit disclosed the possibility of the Argentine international and Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez swapping sides during the upcoming winter transfer window would come as no surprise to him.

There were suggestions in the just concluded summer window that the Gunners were open to swapping Alexis Sanchez with Manchester City for Aguero, or even Raheem Sterling.

Speaking to Martin Keown and Mark Chapman on BBC Radio 5 Live, Pearce claimed such deals going through in the January transfer window could happen

He said: “Am I the only one here that thinks Aguero has been working hard for Manchester City over the years? He’s going to break the club’s scoring record. Reports The Express.

“I think he’s a phenomenal worker, I think he’s joined in, he works hard in the box, and I think this is another chip at him

“I don’t think it’s a marriage made in heaven, this – Aguero and Pep [Guardiola] – I really don’t.

“This [criticism of work-rate] has happened too often

“I think Sergio Aguero is a sensational player. One of the best I’ve ever seen.

“He [Guardiola] still wants Sanchez, that could happen in January. Highly probable that will happen in January.

“And it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Aguero comes here [Arsenal].

“It was mooted in the summer, wouldn’t surprise me at all.”

A swap deal of such magnitude would be very difficult to pull off especially at the mid way point of the season. The mere possibility of it is one that would excite Gunners and Gooners alike as they would be replacing the World Class Sanchez with a player of similar class.
