Tottenham have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Schalke 04 midfielder Loen Goretzka, according to reports.

Goretzka established himself as a key player for Schalke last season and his fine form attracted a host of top clubs including Arsenal.

He was tipped to make a transfer last summer but Schalke weren’t interested in losing the talented midfielder.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, lots of club are already looking to sign him up.

It is understood that Arsenal are big admirers of the midfielder and have been monitoring his situation at Schalke in view to making a move if he becomes available or refuses to sign a new deal but we could now face competition from a familiar face for his services.

According to the Bild via Football transfer Tarvan, Tottenham have now joined the race to sign the midfielder.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the playmaker who scored six goals in 31 appearances last season.

Tottenham scouts have been keeping close tabs on Goretzka recently and are expected to make a move to sign him if Schalke decide to sell in January.

Should the German club refuse to sell, the player will be free to enter into talks with any of his suitors in January and then agree a pre-contract ahead of a summer move.

Both English clubs are expected to face competition from Barcelona and Bayern Munich both of whom have also made regular checks on the midfielder.

Signing Goretzka will not be an easy deal to pull off, especially if he decides to leave for free but if we could sign Kolasinac amid the numerous interest from top clubs in the defender, there is no reason we can’t be our rivals to Goretzka’s signature.
