Diego Costa is set to remain at Chelsea until the January transfer window but his chances of featuring for the first team is very slim.
The 28 year old publicly pushed for a return to Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window but his antics angered club hierarchy who became determined not to sell him for a cut price fee.
The Spaniard’s relationship with the manager and some of the staff at Stamford Bridge is believed to be at an all time low after his refusal to return to the club for preseason.
Costa claims he was badly treated by Antonio Conte who sent him a text message at the end of last season that he was no longer needed at the club.
Costa then pushed for a return back to Atletico and refused to turn up at the club’s Cobham training ground after the summer break, to the annoyance of Chelsea chiefs.
This led to the club standing firm on their £50m valuation which Atletico Madrid were unwilling to pay.
With the transfer window over and Costa still a Chelsea player, Goal claims the Blues want him to train with the club’s U23s, so they can monitor his fitness.
The report also claim Costa is unlikely to feature for Chelsea again as Conte looks to build the squad around Alvaro Morata who was signed as his replacement in July.
Costa’s poor conduct and his strained relationship would be the only reason he can no longer feature for Chelsea. He went too far with his antics this time around and I think he deserves to be in exile until he tenders an apology.
