Arsene Wenger is interested in signing Barcelona goal keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, according to latest reports.
The manager appears to have lost faith in Petr Cech due to his inconsistency. Cech’s becoming prone to errors these days and this has left fans debating whether he’s past his best or not.
As a result, there have been different reports claiming Arsenal are already on the lookout for his long-term successor.
In the summer, it was Jordan Pickford and Jan Oblak that Arsenal were heavily linked with but now a new target in Ter Stegen has emerged.
According to Don Balon via the Express, Arsenal are one of the three clubs interested in Ter Stegen.
Unsurprisgningly, the report claims we have made him our top target next summer.
The report also mentioned Juventus and Paris Saint Germain as the other two clubs keen on the Barcelona man.
This doesn’t make too much sense because Juventus recently signed Wojciech Szczesny to step into Buffon’s shoes next season, so they won’t really be keen on Ter Stegen.
PSG may have the the financial power to sign the goalkeeper but I don’t think they’ll be looking to do business with Barcelona after the fallouts between both clubs when Neymar moved to Paris in the summer.
As for Arsenal, the chances of Ter Stegen coming to the Emirates in very slim. Let no one deceive you, it is highly unlikely that this move will happen. There’s no reason he should leave Barcelona where he is first choice and guaranteed to win major titles.
