Sergio Ramos blocked Real Madrid’s pursuit of Eden Hazard, according to reports in Spain.
The Spanish press especially Diario Gol, didn’t stop linking Hazard with a move to Madrid or Barcelona all summer but the 25 year old remained at Stamford Bridge.
Despite Hazard spending the whole summer recuperating from an ankle surgery he picked up at the end of last season, Madrid were reportedly willing to make him their next Galactico signing.
They were also prepared to test Chelsea’s resolve by tabling a huge bid worth more than €100m but nothing concrete happened at the end of the day.
It obviously looked like the Spanish media made up the Hazard to Madrid stories just to sell paper. In a bid to save their face Diario Gol via the Daily Cannon are now claiming it was Ramos who actually stopped Madrid from signing Hazard.
The report claims Ramos told Madrid chiefs that Hazard will disrupt the dressing room and also had doubts about his fitness.
This doesn’t make sense, how possible is it for a player to have so much influence on the club’s transfer plans to the extent that he has a say on who they sign and who they don’t?
It’s just nonsense! The Hazard to Madrid story never made any sense and it still won’t make any sense, no matter how the Spanish press try to portray it.
It’s normal for big players to be continuously linked with European heavyweights like Madrid and Barca but Chelsea is a big club too, so I don’t see why players would be so intoxicated about moving to the Spanish giants.
