Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring problem, and will miss the home clash against Newcastle United.

Arsene Wenger revealed Shkodran Mustafi has returned to training following a thigh injury, but added that it would be a little gamble to start the German.

Arsene Wenger switched to a 4-2-3-1 formation in midweek and may retain that system against the Magpies.

Sead Kolasinac was rested on Wednesday night, so he should replace Ainsley Maitland-Niles at left-back.

Nacho Montreal could again partner Laurent Koscielny in central defence if Mustafi isn’t risked.

Wenger hinted that Jack Wilshere may be left out after the midfielder played the full 90 minutes in the goalless draw with West Ham United.

So either Mohamed Elneny or Francis Coquelin could start alongside Granit Xhaka in central midfield.

Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi may again form the attacking midfield trio, with Alexandre Lacazette likely to replace Olivier Giroud as the lone striker.

Wenger revealed Lacazette has recently had a groin problem, and was rested on Wednesday night. Danny Welbeck is also a viable starter in the front four positions.

Alternatively, in a 3-4-2-1, Per Mertesacker or Mustafi, if fit, could start in defence, with Iwobi making way.

Santi Cazorla is a long-term absentee for the Gunners, while Theo Walcott (groin) remains out.

First January Signing: Arsenal Agree £35.3m Deal To Sign N’Zonzi

Follow Footballbible on Facebook and Twitter to get up to date football related news from the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and other leagues around the World. News From Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a fee to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, according to reports.

N’Zonzi has long been linked with a move to Arsenal but nothing concrete has materialized. Just last week, he was spotted in London, which caused reports to claim he was closing in on a move to Arsenal.

The midfielder quickly came out to dismiss those rumors, insisting he was only in London for family reasons.

However, that hasn’t stopped the Spanish media from linking him with Arsenal.

According to El Gol via Sports Mole, Arsenal are set to sign N’Zonzi for £35.3m.

This could sound surprising because N’Zonzi has a £38m release clause in his contract but the report claims that Arsenal haven’t been made to trigger the clause.

Instead we’ll be made to pay £32.7m with a further £2.6m in bonuses.

Wenger is believed to be looking for midfielder reinforcements and this reports appears to claim the boss has settled for N’Zonzi.

I do have doubts about this report. First it doesn’t have a reputation of being a good source and secondly, it is looking like a story to sell papers.

Arsenal Told To Pay Just £22m To Complete 1st January Signing

Udinese have placed a price tag on Arsenal target Jakub Jankto, according to reports.

Wenger is reportedly keen on signing a midfielder this January as Wenger look for options to bolster his midfield for the second half of the season.

And reports in Italy reckon that Jankto is high on Arsenal’s radar.

Arsenal are expected to renew it’s interest in the Udinese midfielder, having monitored him closely in the past one year.

Reports had suggested that the 21 year old has a £6m release clause in his contract but it has now emerged that he would cost a lot more than that figure.

According to Gazetta dello Sport via the Daily Cannon, Arsenal will need to cough out up to £22m to sign the midfielder.

Jankto seem to have a good amount of experience playing at the top level but still I don’t think he’s good enough to make the step up to a club like Arsenal.

He featured 29 times in the league for Udinese last season and scored 5 goals, he has made 14 this season and has three goals to his name, which is not a bad return for a midfielder.

I expect Arsenal to move for a more experienced target if we are looking for someone to strengthen our midfield. A player like Jankto will be one for the future.

Liverpool and Arsenal are set to renew their interest in Thomas Lemar when the January transfer window opens.

Both clubs were keen on the forward in the January transfer window but failed to sign him.

Arsenal in particular had several bids rejected by Monaco who initially didn’t want to sell, only for them to accept a £92m bid on deadline day but the player had no interest in moving so late in the transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Arsenal are going to renew their interest in Lemar when the transfer window opens in January.

With Alexis Sanchez’s future still unresolved, Arsenal known they run the risk of losing the midfielder in January and have begun to put measures in place to bring in a replacement.

Lemar has long been touted as a replacement for Sanchez, so it isn’t surprising that he is under consideration.

However, it remains to be seen whether Monaco would want to lose their star man in the middle of the season. Should they be receptive to a sale, Liverpool are expected to provide stiff competition for his signature.

The Reds apparently see him as a replacement for Coutinho who is being linked with a move to Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger has responded to reports that Giroud is prepared to leave Arsenal in January, insisting that the striker hasn’t declared his intention to leave.

Giroud is being linked with a move away from the Emirates, in order to keep his place in France world cup team secured

The striker is currently behind Alexandre Lacazette in Wenger’s pecking order and has been warned by Didier Deschamps that be runs the risk of missing out on the world cup if he isn’t playing regularly.avn

Everton, West Ham United and Crystal Palace have all been linked with the forward but Wenger doesn’t expect Giroud to leave in January

Although the boss admitted that he can sympathize with the striker over his situation, he has no intention of letting him leave.

“No, he’s not a sub for me,” said Wenger. “He’s a very good player but I have plenty of good strikers and you cannot play them all together.

“I speak to all my players but it’s very difficult to speak about what we talk about openly. You would love that. You know enough already, you know!

“He’s a very important player and I have big respect and I am an admirer of Olivier Giroud and I think you look at his career since he came here look how many French caps he got since he was at Arsenal football club, I think he has not wasted his time.

“I can understand the frustration of any player that does not play but it is part of the job when you go to a big club.”

“He played many games. Much more than people speak about,” added the manager. “He has had more minutes played since the start of the season than Lacazette, for example and so that is not always well known.

“On the other hand, when you’re at a big club, there are many strikers. No one can guarantee you will play.”

With Lacazette firmly ahead of Giroud at Arsenal, it will be a matter of time before the same thing will happen in the France national team. It remains to be seen whether he’ll decide to leave in January

Football pundit Ray Wilkins has urged Jack Wilshere to leave Arsenal.

Wilshere is struggling for game time at Arsenal, so far been limited to cup games and cameo appearance in the Premier League.

As bad as that may sound, the midfielder’s woes doesn’t end there. His contract expires at the end of the season and there is no word yet from the club whether he would be offered a new deal or not.

The uncertainty surrounding his future has led to several exit reports and Wilkins has now erred his opinion.

Ray Wilkins was reacting to Wenger’s comments that Wilshere deserves a place in England’s world cup squad due to his quality.

The former Chelsea man says the midfielder would have to leave the Emirates to stand any chance of getting back into the Three Lions fold.

“He has so much to offer Arsenal,” he told Sportingbet, as quoted by the Daily Cannon. “I’m baffled by Arsene’s comments that Jack should be in the England set up when he can’t step up and put him in the first team for Arsenal.

“Jack has to leave for me. It’s evident he’s only playing a bit part, and he’s too good for that. I get a little bit miffed by that, because if it doesn’t change – he needs to leave.”

Wilshere made his fifth league appearance for Arsenal this season on Sunday and is yet to start a game in the competition.

Realistically speaking, he doesn’t stand a chance of making the English squad at the moment, unless there is a drastic change in his situation before the season ends.

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring Paris Saint-Germain youngster Goncalo Guedes and will reportedly make an offer for the talented winger next summer.

The 21-year-old who is currently on a season long loan at Valencia is currently attracting interest with his dazzling displays in La Liga.

Guedes has evolved into a key member of the Valencia side who are currently Barcelona’s closest competitors for the league title.

Following the loss of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the last window and the expected departure of Alexis Sanchez in one of the next two windows, Wenger is understood to be monitoring a few top talents around Europe in wide positions.

Recent reports are indicating that Arsenal are hoping they can lure the tricky winger away from the French giants.

According to Daily Mail, Arsenal will make a move next summer for PSG’s Guedes as they look to rebuild after the departures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

The report further states that the Gunners believe Guedes can help fill the vacuum caused by the expected departure of the club’s best players next summer.

PSG, ideally, are understandably reluctant to let Guedes leave on a permanent deal due to his obvious talent, but the French side are also under huge pressure to balance their books to comply with the rules of the financial fair play.

In any case, it would still require a mammoth offer to tempt PSG into selling the player, the Gunners are however understood not to be perturbed by that and will task new head of football relations Raul Sanllehi to use his contacts gained at Barcelona to secure the Portuguese player.

Arsenal are understood to have made further enquiries from Juventus about the availability of Juan Cuadrado.

The versatile winger is a subject of enquiries yet again from the Gunners who also reportedly approached the Italian giants regarding the player during last summer’s transfer window.

Following the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer window, Wenger was understood to be interested in signing another wingback capable of providing cover and competition on the flanks.

Cuadrado was then heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the same window he made his move to Juventus permanent. All was no to be in the end as Cuadrado obviously remained in Italy with no report of the Gunners lodging an official offer.

With the winter window fast approaching and the Gunners still looking light in the wide areas, reports of the Gunners fresh enquires have again resurfaced.

According to Raisport via The Daily Cannon, there has been a new enquiry about Cuadrado from the Gunners ahead of the January transfer window , and Juan may want to leave the club because he is ‘disgruntled’ (along with teammates Lichtsteiner and Sandro).

The Colombian international’s form has improved in the current campaign and he is enjoying a better campaign compared to last season which was also quite impressive by the way.

Last season he scored three goals and provided 10 assists in 45 matches, whereas this year he so far has four goals and five assists in just 18matches. Haven already beaten his goal tally, he is on target to do the same with assists before the season is out.

Wenger’s interest in Cuadrado is very much understandable, Kieran Gibbs was also let go last summer. The Gunners currently look one Hector Bellerin or Sead Kolasinac injury away from potential crisis in the wide areas with the current squad.

Madrid Boss Zidance Confirms January Interest For Alexis Sanchez

Follow Footballbible on Facebook and Twitter to get up to date football related news from the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and other leagues around the World. News From Chelsea, Everton, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Real Madrid are understood to be preparing a January offer for want away Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez. The Spanish giants remain on the lookout for a forward to bolster their attacking ranks following the sale of Alvaro Morata to Chelsea last summer.

Sanchez on his part is keen on a move away from the Emirates, the Chilean who made no secret of his desire to leave North London during summer’s transfer window came agonizingly close to joining Manchester City on deadline day.

Reports from Spain have revealed that Sanchez is set to be targeted again in the new year, this time by Madrid.

According to Okdiario via Tribal Football, although Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi is the prime target for the January window, Alexis is also under serious consideration.

The report further states that it is a move for Sanchez that looks set to prioritized by the Galacticos. The Spanish club reckons that to land Icardi next month, they will have to part with €90-100m, whereas intermediaries are convinced Alexis will be allowed to leave Arsenal for €30m.

To further fuel the speculation, Real coach Zinedine Zidane has made it clear to the directors that he would prefer Alexis over Icardi.

Madrid’s pursuit of Alexis is however likely to face a couple of obstacles. The player is understood to have prioritized a move to the Etihad as he wants to be reunited with Pep Guardiola whom he played under during their spell at Barcelona, it is also highly unlikely that Wenger would sanction the sale of Alexis in the upcoming winter transfer window, despite his contract running out at the end of the season, the player is obviously still a key component of the current Gunners squad.

Arsene Wenger had nothing but praise for Jack Wilshere following his impressive showing in last week in the Gunners’ resounding victory over BATE Borisov.

The Gunners signed off the group stages with a 6 nil routing at the Emirates last Thursday and it was Wilshere who was at the heart of it all with a monstrous performance which included a goal and an assist.

Wenger very much like every Gooner who saw his classy display was purring after the game. The boss further stated that the fit again midfielder is now pushing for regular game time in the Premier League.

“You will see more of him because he had a little fracture [before] the start of the season, but now I would not even say he is coming back – he is back,”Daily Cannon reports the manager said.

“The next step is for him to be competitive in the Premier League and to fight for his place in the team. He will get games, he will get the opportunity to show that Jack Wilshere is back.

“I would say this is the most mature Wilshere I have seen, in the game and outside the game. He is not excessive, he has taken a distance from the pressure that was always around him.

“He is a special talent and since he was 17 all the attention in the country was on him. He has gone through huge disappointments, but now he is a father and a happy father.

“You can see he thinks with a different perspective and I personally feel this is the most mature, balanced Wilshere I have seen.”

The coming weeks are set to prove very crucial in the midfielder’s future, with his contract up at the end of the current campaign, Wilshere’s form and fitness over the festive period would be key in determining if the player would be signing a new contract to extend his stay with the Gunners before the end of the season.
