Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Loen Goretzka, according to reports.

Goretzka has shown he has the potential to become a top player in the future and his talent have attracted a host of top clubs including Arsenal.

With his contract set to expire in 2018, his future has been thrown under the spotlight and many clubs are jostling to sign him up.

It is understood that Arsenal are big admirers of the midfielder and have been monitoring his situation at Schalke 04 for well over a year but we could now face competition from Man Utd for his services.

According to the Express, Manchester United have now joined the race to sign the midfielder.

Jose Mourinho is keen on the playmaker who has scored six goals in 31 appearances last season. His ability to play different positions without having a reduction in his performance have caught the attention of Arsene Wenger.

Wenger is a big fan of versatile players and one can see the reason why we are one of the clubs keeping an eye on Goretzka.

Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are also keen on the midfielder, who would be free to enter into talks with suitors in January. Schalke also do not want to lose the midfielder and are fighting hard to extend his contract.

All these interest will make it very difficult for Arsenal to sign the defender. It remains to be seen whether we’ll be successful.

Mourinho Finally Agree To Reduce Asking Price To Sell Star Man To Arsenal

Arsenal are being linked with Manchester United left back Luke Shaw.

Shaw has struggled at Man Utd since joining them for over £30m in 2015 and it appears his club has now given up on him.

A report in the Daily Cannon claim United are prepared to sell the defender and in order to hasten his departure, they have dropped their asking price from £27m to £20m.

Arsenal are believed to be monitoring Shaw’s situation and might be boosted by this recent development.

However, it is Newcastle who are currently showing the most serious interest in the defender and it is to encourage the Magpies that Man Utd have dropped £7m in their valuation.

It is surprising, although not entirely surprising that Arsenal are being linked with sure.

Obviously we do need a new left back, as Monreal has been moved to central defense to compensate for his lack of pace and ageing, leaving Sead Kolasinac as our only leftback, but we’ve had enough problem with injury prone players.

Wilshere’s future is under threat because of poor injury record while Debuchy has been frozen out of the first team because he can’t stay fit. So it’s going to be silly of us to move for a player who doesn’t have the best injury records.

I don’t see Shaw moving to Arsenal. What the defender needs is a move to a smaller club where he can play regularly in order to resurrect his career. A move to Arsenal in January or anytime soon won’t favor any of the parties.

Barcelona Offer Turan To Arsenal In Swap Deal For Ozil – Wenger to Accept?

Barcelona are understood to be interested in an audacious swap deal in order to land Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil. The Spanish club will reportedly offer long-term Gunners target Arda Turan to Arsenal in a proposed swap deal to sign Ozil.

The Catalan side have been heavily linked with the German international and reports claim they are preparing a January offer for him.

Ozil who has thus far refused to sign a new contract with the Gunners looks set to depart the Emirates in one of the next two windows as his current contract is expiring at the end of the season, Wenger may be forced to let him leave for financial reasons if a suitable offer is received by the club.

In a bid to convince Arsenal to part with its chief playmaker in the new year, the Daily Star via Metro claim Barca are prepared to let Turan go in the opposite direction.

Arsenal have actually been heavily linked with Turan in the last two transfer windows but a move obviously never came close to happening.

Fans are eager to see what happens with Ozil. Wenger recently stated later this month, a decision will be made on the German’s future along with others whose contracts expire at the end of the season.

It is rumoured that Ozil is demanding around £350,000 a week wages to sign a new deal at the Emirates, a sum he could easily get if he signs on a free for a top European club.

However should Ozil leave in the winter transfer window, it is unlikely it will be a swap deal involving Turan. The Turkish international is already 30 and it is highly unlikely he remains a target for Wenger.

What’s more likely going to happen is Ozil staying at the Emirates till the end of the season at the very least with Wenger recently stating he would be an Arsenal player after January.

History has taught us that with the gaffer, you never really know. Over to you Wenger……

Mourinho Told By Man Utd Star To Do Everything Possible To Sign Ozil

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has urged Jose Mourinho to sign Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.

The German international is continuously being linked with a move to Old Trafford and despite Mourinho refusing to confirm his interest in the German last week, Ferdinand has urged him to sign the World Cup winner.

Ozil arguably enjoyed his best spell in football under the Portuguese boss during their time at European Champions Real Madrid and Ferdinand strongly believes Mourinho can again get the best out of the German in England.

“He was amazing at Real Madrid. He’s a different player to what I’ve seen here,” The Express reports Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“His pace – he’s deceptively quick. And if you can get that out of him, his ability…

“He’s a technician and I would take him at Manchester United all day long. A free transfer, no doubts.”

Ozil started in the game against Man Utd on Saturday but couldn’t stop us from falling to a defeat.

He’s been undoubtedly one of Arsenal’s best players since he joined for what was a club record fee at the time in 2013 and it isn’t surprising to see him attracting interest from a rival club.

However, Gooners will be massively disappointed to see the German join a direct rival in what could turn out to be an unwanted trend following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool and Alexis Sanchez’s strong links with Manchester City.

Not much can be done by the Gunners regarding where the superstar duo end up next summer.

The duo are well into the last year of their contracts at the Emirates and are likely to leave on a free to the club of their choosing at the end of the current campaign.

Revealed: £220,000-a-week Star Opens Up On Surprise Arsenal Move

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has recalled how he snubbed a move to Arsenal when he was much younger.

The Red Devils no. 10 has revealed that as a youngster he had the chance to join the Gunners pending a successful trial but turned it down.

Speaking ahead of United’s victory over Arsenal on Saturday evening, the former Sweden captain revealed why he turned down the Gunners offer.

“I went to London for an appointment with Wenger, who asked me to audition for the Gunners,”Four Four Two reports Ibrahimovic told Sky Sport Italia. “I told him ‘I will not do a trial: either you take me or not, I’m not here to waste time’.

“I already had that kind of trust [in myself], because in my mind I was the strongest of all even when I was young. I met Wenger because I expected him to tell me to start with them right away. But Ibra does not test.

“When I was young, in my mind no one was better than me. I watched Ronaldo, Romario and [Roberto] Baggio on TV and I had one goal: I wanted to show that I was the best”

After turning down the chance to perform a trial at Arsenal as a youngster and then going on to achieve very big things in his trophy laden career thus far, Ibrahimovic was again heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in 2016 after his contract with French champions Paris Saint-Germain came to an end.

Just like the first time, he opted against moving to North London and instead chose to join rivals Man Utd.

At 36, there’s no chance of Zlatan lining up for Arsenal again. We are now left to wonder what might have been had we signed him up several years ago.

Man Utd Target Finally Confirm Arsenal Interest In Signing Him

Antoinne Greizmann has revealed Arsenal tried to sign him in the past on more than one occasion.

The French international has developed into one of the finest footballers in European football and every Gooner would want to see him play for our club.

The chances of that happening are currently slim to none after Arsenal blew their chance of signing him in the past.

Speaking in a recent interview, Greizmann said Arsenal tried to sign him on two separate occasions. However, it is the first time that would hinder our chances of signing him, after we left him disappointed when we refused to follow up our interest.

After the first blow he suffered, he was quick to turn down Arsenal when we came calling the second time.

Speaking in a recent interview, Just Arsenal reports Greizmann said:

“I waited,” he said. “I waited, and I kept waiting … when there was no news, Eric called Grimandi, who said that the manager was still interested in me [and] to keep waiting.

“Finally a few hours before the market closed, he let us know Arsenal would not make a move. ‘I don’t like to be told something and for it not to happen. ‘So when Eric told me later that the London club were interested again I told him “Forget it, after the blow they gave us.”

So it looks like our chance of ever signing Greizmann in the future has been blown by that single act.

The French international can now be added to the long list of top class players who the Gunners have missed out on under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger.

Mourinho Set To Anger Gooners As He Finally Agree To Sign Ozil In January

Machester United are planning a January bid to sign Mesut Ozil, according to reports.

Ozil may leave Arsenal as a free agent at the end of the season, unless he signs a new deal. He’s been constantly linked with Manchester United and Barcelona as his contract renewal saga continues to linger.

Although Man Utd have played down reports that they are interested in Ozil, Spanish newspaper Don Balon are having none of it

Don Balon via Calcio Mercato say Mourinho is prepared to table a bid for Ozil in the winter transfer window which opens next month.

The report claims Mourinho is prepared to stump up between €20m and €25m to sign the German from Arsenal.

Arsenal now have to make a decision whether to accept the fee or let the German see out his contract and then leave for free.

Wenger has already given a hint of what will happen in January, when he stated Ozil and Sanchez – who is in a similar situation as well will not be sold in the winter transfer window.

“Yes, I rule it out,” Wenger said, when asked if he rules out the duo’s exit in January.

“For me, they stay until the end of the season — that’s what I decided at the start of the season. They go into the final year of their contract.

“Will they stay longer? That’s impossible to answer today because I don’t know.”

It’s easier said than done, you know. When an offer comes in, the club would have to consider the impact such deal would have on its present and the future financially.

As much as I won’t want to lose any of the duo in the middle of the season, I am scared that there isn’t a guarantee that we’d be able to keep them if a good offer comes in, especially after we almost sold Sanchez last summer deadline day when City came forward with a monstrous offer. We’ll never know until then.

Arsenal Insider Makes Huge Double January Transfer Statement

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes the club will not allow Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil leave in January.

Sanchez and Ozil have refused to sign new contracts, even though their current deals expires at the end of the season.

It’s been widely reported that Arsenal will consider selling them in January if a monstrous offer comes in but Keown is of the opinion that they’ll be made to see the end of their contracts.

“I believe that they believe in the football club,” Keown told BT Sport, as quoted by the Express.

“They have to do well between now and the end of the season and then go with everyone’s blessing.

“Wenger wants them at the club. He wants the best players, that’s all he’s ever interested in – he is not interested in getting any money in for them.

“I think they should stay at the club and give their best and lets hope they qualify for the Champions League.”

Returning to the Champions League is Arsenal’s priority now and I am sure the club won’t want to lose its key players if it will jeopardize our chances of accomplishing our goal. It does look like it will, so I don’t expect them to be sold next month.

Even though losing them for free at the end of the season will hit us hard financially, I would prefer them to stay until then. Should we qualify for the Champions League, we should be able to compensate for the financial hit.

[4-1-2-3] Man City vs Man Utd: Match Preview & Predicted City Lineup

Pep Guardiola revealed David Silva is available for the Manchester derby, after the midfielder sat out the 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk due to a knock.

The Spaniard should start alongside Fernandinho and Kevin De Bruyne in central midfield in the usual 4-1-2-3 formation, with Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva providing cover.

Raheem Sterling was an unused substitute on Wednesday night and looks set to start on the right of the front three, while Leroy Sane was withdrawn after 62 minutes and is the favourite to line up on the left.

Up front, Gabriel Jesus played the full 90 minutes in midweek and could drop back to the bench, with Sergio Aguero – who was handed just 20 minutes in the Ukraine – returning to the XI.

Vincent Kompany missed out against Shakhtar after suffering some discomfort, while Fabian Delph was absent due to illness, with the pair to be assessed ahead of Sunday’s match.

Eliaquim Mangala and Danilo will be on standby, then, while Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi appear sure starters elsewhere in the back four.

John Stones remains out, while Benjamin Mendy is a long-term absentee.

Jose Mourinho will be without the suspended Paul Pogba for the Manchester derby but Nemanja Matic has recovered from the knock that forced him to miss the 2-1 victory over CKSA Moscow, while Phil Jones and Zlatan Ibrahimovic are also fit to return.

Matic could perhaps be joined in central midfield by Ander Herrera, with Marouane Fellaini (knee) to be assessed over the next 24 to 48 hours.

The Man United boss could retain his recent 3-4-1-2 formation, with Jesse Lingard lining up in the No 10 role behind the front pairing of Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial.

Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata are the main attacking alternatives, though they both started in midweek whereas Lingard and Martial were omitted from the XI.

Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young are expected to start in the wing-back roles, while Jones could replace Victor Lindelof in the three-man backline, with Marcos Rojo and certainly Chris Smalling appearing more secure starters.

Eric Bailly (groin) and Michael Carrick (illness) won’t feature.
