Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has warned his teammates that Lionel Messi cannot be stopped ahead of their Champions League clash against Bracelona next Tuesday.
The defending Premier league Champions have had a rough season so far and returned to winning ways on Monday with a 3-0 win against bottom placed West Brom after two consecutive demoralizing losses.
They face Barcelona in the round of 16 of this season’s Champions league and are expected to stop Lionel Messi who has failed to score in eight games against them, which is a record for the number of times he has met a single club without scoring in his career.
But Blues striker Alvaro Morata believes his team will not be able to contain the Argentine’s threat, given the Spanish side’s current run of form which has seen them move seven points clear at the top of the La Liga.
Morata who formerly played for Real Madrid said “Messi can’t be stopped
‘if we can get a good result here, we have to play a defensive game with spaces and try to bother them as much as possible.”
Chelsea will do well to heed his advice given that he has faced Barcelona and Messi more times than anyone else at the club.
