Thibaut Courtois is expected to be fit for the FA Cup final against Manchester United and could return to Chelsea’s side this weekend.
The Belgium goalkeeper missed Wednesday’s Premier League clash at home to Huddersfield Town with a back injury.
Following last weekend’s disappointing result, Chelsea turn their attentions to the FA Cup – they face Manchester United in the final of the competition on May 19.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Conte said:
‘Courtois trained. He will be in contention. No [other] news.’ Conte’s Chelsea won the Premier League last season but it has been a very different story this term, with the Blues on the verge of missing out on a top-four finish.
Chelsea needed to beat Newcastle and hope Liverpool slip up at home to Brighton to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
‘The league season, we have worked very hard,’ Conte said.
‘We are struggling to take a place in the Champions League.
‘You play in a league that is very tough, there are six top teams that fight for the top four. It means you must pay great attention for the future and present. It is not easy.
‘We have dropped many points but in the last game we dominated the game and weren’t able to win.
‘This season we were a bit unlucky, I don’t like to use this word but if you see the home games against West Ham and Huddersfield we lost four points. When you drop points in this way you pay.’
