Chelsea are being showing their interest in german sparkling star Bayer Leverkusen winger Andre Schurrle to fill up the boots of Didier Drogba.
Di Matteo has been given the go-ahead to up his offer for the 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen striker and provide fresh strength lead the front.
The young 21-year-old has already been the subject of a £21million bid from Chelsea but was told by Bayer director Rudi Voller that he was very much valuable to the side and that they may not be able to recruit a perfect replacement.
“Chelsea’s interest was really solid & Chelsea would have been very interesting for me,” The striker highlighted in Kicker magazine last month after news of the bid came out.
He also added,“You don’t get a chance like that very often in your life”.
The talented young Bayer Leverkusen man has been on the radar since a successful season in the Bundesliga followed by some cameos at Euro 2012, and opening offers have been rebuffed.
