The Brazilian was reportedly willing to join Chelsea in the summer but didn’t want to force through a move, meaning a move didn’t materialize as Juve weren’t willing to sell.
However, It is believed that Chelsea still retain a strong interest in the defender but any hope of signing him in the nearest future is about to be dashed as the defender closes in on a contract renewal at Juve.
According to Corriere dello Sport via Calciomercato, Sandro is set to sign a new deal at Juve.
Sandro’s current contract expires in 2020 but the Turin giants want him to pen a two year extension, which will see him contracted to them until 2022.
He is also expected to be rewarded with a considerable increase in his salary from € 2.8 million-a-year to € 4.5 million-a-year.
Juve are confident he will put pen to paper on the new deal which will all but end Chelsea’s hopes of signing him next summer.
Chelsea fans won’t be too happy with this development as most of us want the club to go back in for the world class defender next summer.
