Juventus look set to land Chelsea a huge blow by tying Alex Sandro down to a new contract.
Chelsea desperately wanted to sign Sandro in the summer but Juventus weren’t willing to sell him, especially after losing Bonucci to AC Milan.
The Brazilian reportedly had an agreement with Chelsea and wouldn’t have had any problem moving to Stamford Bridge but Juve weren’t willing to sell and the defender was happy to stay.
Chelsea still retain a strong interest in the defender but any hope of signing him in the nearest future is about to be dashed as he closes in on a contract renewal at Juve.
According to Calciomercato, Sandro is set to sign a new deal at Juve.
Sandro’s current contract expires in 2020 but the Turin giants want him to pen a two year extension, which will see him contracted to them until 2022. He is also expected to be rewarded with a considerable increase in his salary from € 2.8 million-a-year to € 4 million-a-year.
They will also offer him bonuses which won’t be part of his salary in order to convince him to sign the new deal.
Juve believe it will be a matter of time before Sandro signs the new deal, which will all but end Chelsea’s hopes of signing him next summer.
