Shane Duffy is available for the trip to Chelsea after serving a one-match ban and will be expected to replace Connor Goldson in central defence.

Markus Suttner returned at left-back in the 1-0 win over Watford, but the pace of Gaetan Bong may be favoured at Stamford Bridge.

Ezequiel Schelotto is a possible alternative to Bruno at right-back, while he could also be an option on the right side of midfield if Chris Hughton adopts a more cautious approach.

Anthony Knockaert is usually the favoured option on the right side of midfield, however, with Jose Izquierdo the alternative to Solly March on the opposite flank. On-loan midfielder Izzy Brown is ineligible to face his parent club.

Beram Kayal is the main alternative to the regular starters Davy Propper and Dale Stephens in the middle of the park, while Pascal Gross should retain his start in a central support role.

Tomer Hemed was favoured in attack against the Hornets, but Glenn Murray is expected to return on Boxing Day. Steve Sidwell (back) remains sidelined.
