Arsenal have been linked with a move for £35m-rated ($46.80m) Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal new boss Unai Emery has shown he means business this summer; he has already made one signing and report confirm he has a deal in place for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga, having made 55 appearances since joining Freiburg in 2016.

His performances have seen him linked with a move away from Germany and the Gunners’ head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, has long been an admirer.

The Turk’s agent confirmed talks concrete talks between the two clubs and a deal looks increasingly likely to happen soon.

 “Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany,” Mustafa Dofru told Turkish Football.

“Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next.

“What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break.

“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with.”
