Top European clubs are preparing to battle for Alexis Sanchez’s signature next summer, according to the Express.
Sanchez is already into the final year of his contract here at the Emirates and doesn’t look like he will sign a new deal.
As we all know, he silently pushed for a move to Manchester City in the just concluded transfer window but it didn’t happen because Wenger couldn’t secure a replacement in time.
Should he continue to reject a new contract offer, he will be free to enter into talks with suitors as from January and can even sign a pre-contract agreement with any club of his choice.
City remain keen on the striker but the Express reckons they will not be the only one chasing him.
They say Bayern Munich are still interested in signing the striker, having failed to sign before the start of the current season.
Juventus who are long term admirers of the forward are also expected to join the race to sign him on a bosman transfer at the end of the season.
City were Sanchez preferred option in the summer and are almost certain to return for the striker in January. They are still favorites to sign him if he doesn’t change his mind.
Wenger remains keen on keeping the striker beyond the length of his current contract and will continue to explore all possibilities of convincing him to sign a new deal.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to change the striker’s mind, though it is unlikely at the moment.
