Arsenal scouts were present at Monaco’s last Champions League game against Besiktas to watch Thomas Lemar.
Lemar was Arsenal’s top target in the summer transfer window but Wenger couldn’t secure his signature before the window closed.
The Frenchman was identified as a key target as early as March but Monaco’s handling of negotiations was the main reason we couldn’t sign him.
Despite the failed attempts to sign Lemar in the summer, reports are claiming Arsenal remain interested in the winger.
According to Mercato365.com via the Daily Cannon, Arsenal scouts were seen watching the winger last Wednesday.
However, scouts didn’t get the chance to watch the midfielder comprehensively as he was forced to leave the pitch in the 26th minute after suffering an injury
Arsenal are apparently still interested in the Frenchman as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who is expected to leave at the end of the season.
Wenger recently poured cold water on reports linking Arsenal with Lemar but if this report is correct, it means Wenger is just trying to keep his card close to his chest.
Lemar is expected to miss the next one month and rumors linking him to Arsenal should die down this period.
