Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is understood to have given the nod in the Spanish giants chase of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The German international who is into the last year of his contract at the Emirates has been linked with a host of top European clubs with Barcelona rumored to be amongst those who hold a concrete interest in the player’s signature.
The Spanish club are still in the market for a proven playmaker. They targeted Phillipe Coutinho during last summer’s transfer window but Liverpool would not entertain the idea of sale leading the Catalans to their attentions to other targets.
Messi who is arguably the best player ever to play the beautiful game of football has also been rumoured to have a say on footballing matters outside of the football pitch at Barcelona, recent reports emanating from Spain have now revealed that the five time World Best player has given the green light on the Catalans move for Ozil.
According to Don Balon via Daily Star, the Argentine superstar is happy for the Gunners playmaker to join in the summer.
With no news to report regarding any progress on a contract extension for the midfielder, the World Cup winner looks destined to exit the Emirates next year when his contract is up.
Unlike the Sanchez situation though, Ozil is understood to be open to the idea of extending his stay in North London beyond the current campaign which makes all the more baffling as to why Wenger hasn’t yet reached an agreement with the German to sign a new deal.
