Arsenal’s hopes of signing Poitr Zielinski has been dealt a huge blow as he is close to signing a new five-year contract at Napoli, according to InsideFutbol.
The Polish midfielder has been a target for top European clubs this season after impressing in Napoli’s fine campaign which saw them hotly challenge Juventus for the title until the final weeks of the season.
He has been linked with a move to the Premier league with Arsenal reportedly willing to pay the €65 million release clause in his current contract.
Napoli however are unwilling to let him leave, at least not this summer, and are looking to ward off interest in the Polish international.
According to reports in Italy, the details of a new contract has been agreed upon between the club and the player’s representatives, and it is expected to include a significant pay rise and eliminate the release clause giving the club more control over his future as he develops.
He is expected to put pen to paper on the new deal very soon and ensure he is not one of the several players Napoli are likely to lose this summer.
