Everton are in need of cover at left back and have identified Chelsea outcast Baba Rahman and Crystal Palace Patrick Van Aanholt as targets, according to The Sun.
The Toffees are in search of a backup for aging Leighton Baines at left back, and will look to rival Schalke for the signature of Baba Rahman who is open to joining the club where he spent last season on loan.
The Ghanian joined the Blues in 2015 from Ausburg after a very impressive season where he made it to the Bundesliga team of the year with his impressive performances, however he has not been able to find his feet in England making just 15 appearances.
The arrival of Antonio Conte and signing of Marcos Alonso saw him go out to Schalke on loan where he couldn’t break into the starting line up ahead of Sead Kolasinac, before an anterior cruciate ligament injury at the beginning of 2017 ended the year for him.
He has now regained fitness and Schalke are interested in taking him on loan for the rest of the season, as the Bundesliga side’s sporting director said “I expect a decision to be taken in a relatively short term.
“Many things are already exchanged between Chelsea and us.
“Now I’m waiting for an answer from Chelsea to my most recent email.
“It’s not certain yet if the loan can be for 18 months.”
Van Aanholt 29, played under Sam Allardyce at Sunderland and is open to rejoining his former boss, Everton are willing to use Palace’s interest in Oumar Niasse to push for a swap deal.
