Alexis Sanchez signing has reshaped Manchester United transfer plans, as they have now turned their attention to strengthening their midfield, according to the Independent.
The Old Trafford hierarchy had initially wanted a winger, a striker and a marquee signing, all of which criteria Alexis Sanchez fits, freeing up their shortlist, and allowing them to focus on other targets.
Their attention has moved to the midfield where they are still interested in Alexis former Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil, as his contract expires in the summer and he is demanding over £300,000 a week wages to sign a new deal.
The Metro suggests that Mourinho now targets Carlos Soler as he looks for a long term replacement for the retiring Micheal Carrick, while Marouane Fellaini’s potential departure when his contract expires at the end of the season creates a void which they believe 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl can fill.
The signing of Alexis Sanchez now means that they will drop their interest in Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic. They are also monitoring Nice’s Jean-Micheal Seri.
