The Alexis Sanchez saga is set to rumble on with Manchester City understood to be readying a January offer for the Chilean.
The Citizens are very much keen on the winger and made a couple of offers to get the superstar in the just concluded window.
According to The Sun via The Daily Cannon, City will return in January for the 28-year-old, this time they will only bid £20m for him – a third of what they were willing to pay in August.
The Chilean who has less than a year on his current contract at the Emirates was also desperate for a move to the Etihad having had his head turned by the idea of reuniting with former boss Pep Guardiola.
It was originally thought that City would ideally like to wait till next summer to get Sanchez. He would arrive for nothing and the Citizens would like to avoid getting into difficult negotiations again with the Gunners.
But it’s now been understood that City could launch a bid to sign the Chilean when the transfer window reopens in January to avoid being swooped by rivals from abroad.
It’s no secret that Sanchez who would be available for free would be one of the most sought after players going into next summer, but he can only sign a pre contract in January with clubs outside of England which puts City at a huge disadvantage.
Considering the difficulties involved in getting a top class replacement at the middle of the season, Wenger would be expected to block the Chilean’s exit from the Emirates in January should City make even substantial an offer.
